Dental Veneers: For a Smile You Dream of

Did you know a smile contributes to defining your personality? The brighter your smile is, the better you feel about yourself. Studies have shown that people who smile better have more confidence than those who don't have it. Unfortunately, not many people get a chance to flaunt their smiles because of their bad oral health condition.

Are you looking for a perfect solution to your chipped or cracked teeth? We have good news for you—dental veneers. Now you can get the smile you desire within a single dentist appointment!

What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin wafer-like shells that are attached to the tooth’s surface to improve your appearance. These are made of porcelain or resin composite materials, offering a permanent dental restoration solution.

Usually, in the case of a chipped tooth, you just need to get one veneer. But as a part of cosmetic treatments, people sometimes go for six to eight veneers. Most people go for veneer placement on the top front of eight teeth to align them, thus improving their facial structure.

Dental Veneer Placement Procedure

First, the dentist will take a visual exam of your mouth. Then based on the dentist’s insights, they will formulate a tailored dental veneer placement plan. The dentist will then take your teeth impressions and measurements for manufacturing veneers. It may take a week or more before you can receive the custom-made dental veneers from the dental laboratory.

When the veneers are received, the dentist will check whether they fit you or not. If they fit, the dentist will place the dental veneer on your teeth with the help of dental cement and is hardened using a bonding ultraviolet light.

Dental Veneer Aftercare Do's and Don'ts

Typically veneers last for 10 to 15 years. Below are some of the precautions that have to be taken:

  • Avoid chewing hard objects like a pen, pencil, ice, etc.
  • Never use your teeth for opening hard packaged items and condimental packs.
  • Avoid chewing with the front teeth.
  • When you are playing sports, wear protective gear for your mouth.
  • Get a splint or retainer to protect your veneers in case you grind or clench your teeth at night.

Veneers are also helpful in fixing discolorations, gaps between teeth, and size asymmetries like if you have smaller, pointed, or unusually shaped teeth.
